Donostiako Euskara Zerbitzua has published a new guide of entertainment and culture in Basque. With the entry into December, sure, you are already thinking what to give at Christmas! In this guide you will find what you need.

This guide provides the opportunity to enjoy entertainment in Basque and you can find products of all types and for all ages: music, books, movies, magazines, multimedia content…

You can see it on this website and you can also find a list of establishments in Donostia.

The next December 3rd we are going to celebrate the International Day of Euskara, and like every year, are organized various initiatives in all neighborhoods of Donostia. The theme of this year is "Euskara, etenik ez duen haria" with the aim of emphasize the importance of the transmission.

There are two events organized in San Telmo Museum to celebrate the day: on November 29th the event "Euskara, etenik ez duen haria" at 12: 00h, and the same December 3rd "Belaunaldien arteko Mintzodromoa".

Also on December 3rd will be published all messages broadcasted with the hastag #ereeuskaraz

This week, many of you are going to do oral exam of EGA. The results will be published on December 10th and will be 5 days for claims. The final results will be published on December 23th.

On the other hand, many of you are waiting for the result of the written test HABE. Will be published this week, on Thursday. Once this test, oral tests will take place on the end of this month. Here you can check the calendar.

A total of 318 establishments in the city will ensure their customers speak Basque and to be attended and served in Basque. They are establishments that have joined the campaign 'Merkataritza eta ostalaritzan ere euskaraz' which aims to promote the use of Basque in the shops and bars in Donostia / San Sebastián.

The establishments are listed on an interactive map, so that everyone knows that in this establishment have the option to be served in Basque.

Purposing to achieve full recovery of Basque in the city, Donostia wants to define the challenges, objectives and priorities for the period 2015-2019. Is expected to design the new General Plan for the Basque and it is here to implement a participatory process between November 2014 and January 2015. Every Saturday until 15 November, the Bureau of Human Rights in San Sebastian offers tours of the historical memory of San Sebastian to meet the significant places of the coup of 1936 and the subsequent Franco dictatorship. The starting point of the visit is the San Telmo Museum.

Bagera Elkartea Association offers the opportunity to continue practicing euskera in summer, through the mintzalagunak project. This week is the last one of the registration period for those who want to participate in July, August or both.

Groups will begin to meet the week coming, so you have to take advantage and sign up as soon as possible. If you want to participate as a student, should fill the student file. The minimum that is required is the level 6 (6. urratsa). On the other hand, if you know Basque and accounts with one free hour a week, you can fill the Assistant file, and help those who are learning Basque.

Olatu Talka has arrived to San Sebastian. This weekend lots of activities will take place all around the city, and the Basque language will have it's own space.

The events organized around Olatu Talka will take place on May 23, 24 and 25 and June 1, all around the city. The objective of one of those events is to promote the use of the Basque language: Basque Square. It will take place on May 25, between 11:00 and 14:00, next to the Easo Square. Lots of activities will be organized around 6 stands, and the organizing committee wants encourage people to participate.

Along with the Week of Basque of Egia, you will be able to see an exhibition on the memory of the linguistic repression, from 19 to 25 may in the Cultural Centre of Egia.

Euskal Memorua and the Gipuzkoako Foru Aldundia have organized this exhibition, with the help of Donostia Kultura and the Department of Human Rights of the City Council. "Euskara ospeletik eguterara." "Hinkuntza zapalkuntzaren memoria". The aim of the exhibition is to make public the repression of the Basque language and offer a way to remember it. In the same way, it wants to give a chance to complete this story together: "The goal is to expose the persecution agints Basque, to publicize it suffered by the Basques through their stories, and offering ways to continue seeking testimony about that persecution. Memory must weave together".

On the other hand, related to the exhibition David Anaut will give a talk on 23 May, at 18:30 at the Cultural Centre of Egia. Anaut is the author of the book "Euskararen kate hautsiak". A documentary will be screened along with the talk.

We have entered fully into EGA and HABE exams.

Today, we have begun to make oral and written comprehension tests, in the euskaltegi . We will continue with these tests until the 10th of this month, at all levels. The results will be published on May 15. If you pass these tests, you'll have to make the written expression test on 17 May. Here you can see the dates and locations for this test.

On the other hand, the results of the test of written expression of the EGA will be published this week; on Thursday. According to the calendar, the deadline for claims will be open until 14 May. Once you pass this test, oral tests will take place at the end of this month. Here you will find all the information about it.

On 8 May will be held the I Meeting of Students to promote Scientific Culture, at the Centre Carlos Santamaria of Donostia-San Sebastian, from 09:00 until 14:00. It has been Ainhoa Ezeiza, ex-teacher of Legazpi 6 euskaltegia, who informed us about the event. She underlines that it is free, and encourages everyone to participate.

The main objective of this meeting is to show the transdisciplinary character of the science through the eyes of students, to highlight the importance of those students in the development of science. As guests will attend several researchers; promotors of science, media and research groups coordinators. An excellent opportunity to see how works the science in Basque in our country!

The Pocket Theatre Festival will be held from 2 to May 18. You could enjoy performances of theater of small and medium format, free, in various bars and premises of the Center and neighborhoods of Donostia.

Some of them will be in Basque. On the one hand, 'Markesa Loukost' of Seiru group. This show has won the Pocket Theatre Prize in Euskera (Basque). It is a work that brings the internal conflicts of the characters, but with lots of sense of humor. You can see on 9, 14, 15 and 18 of may, 20:00, in Ardube of Loiola, in the Doka of Antiguo, in the Via Fora of Amara and in the Bukowski of Egia, respectively.

Other show that will be seen is 'Euskararen espektakulue' of Oihan Vega. Using humor and sarcasm, invites us to think about the use of the Basque language, using this monologue funny and ironic, accompanied by music, songs and films. On May 4, you can see at 20:00 in the bar Apixi of Loiola; on 8 may at 21:00 in El Muro of the Gros; May 9 at 22:30 at the Jolas-Etxea of Anorga; and the 15 at 20:30 at the Sidi-Kauki of Intxaurrondo.

On May 8, at 20:30 be seen, in the Beti-Boga of Egia, the monologue and improvisation session of Ion Martinez: 'Txikiren umorezko bakarrizketa: mil a zien. Baietz parrez lehertu!'

Finally, you can enjoy the famous 'Kokakola eta barea' with Ramon Agirre and Inaxio Tolosa, on May 8 at 20:00 at the Intxaurrondo macrobiotic restaurant; on May 11 at 20:00 in the Bukowski of Egia; on May 16 at 20:00 in El Nido of Altza; and on May 18 at 19:30 at the Itxas-Aurre cultural center of Igeldo.

We will enjoy with a perfect plan this week in our euskaltegi. Theater and a cider-house. Do you fancy them?

On Wednesday we went to the theater, to see the work ON EGIN! of Borolbil Teatroa. A work full of humor, cute and familiar. Mix both Basque and Spanish, and is highly recommended for students of the first courses.

The plan on Thursday, on the other hand, is also really good. As every year, students, ex-students and teachers, we will go to a cider-house. This year, to Zelaia. Enjoy with us! Come and make the inscription in the euskaltegi!

There will be a trip around the river Urumea in a Kayak on April 12. It's an excursion organized by Haritzalde Naturzaleen Elkartea and the ARRAUNING.COM company, related to the exhibition placed in San Telmo "Water, rivers and villages" ("Ura, ibaiak eta herriak"). Others will be organized later.

The tour will be an hour and a half long, starting at 16:30, and the price is 5 euros. It is necessary to register in advance on the website On the trip there will be a chance to see and learn several things: what and where are the estuaries, River, ecosystems, marshes, plants, the maritime forest, invasive plants, inhabitants of the River (fish, birds, mammals...), the invasive fauna, floods and tides...

On May 17 a romeria or a show of traditional Basque dances will take place, organized by Bagera Elkartea and schools of music and dance of the City Council.That day will also celebrated a competition of popular dances for people of all ages, and the term of registration is now openned.

The romeriawill take place on May 17 at 18:30 in the afternoon at the plaza de la Constitución. That day will also be held folk dances contest: children under 12 years old will dance an arin-arin; those who are between 12 and 55 years, a fandango; and those who are more than 55 years, 'jauziak'. On the web of Bagera you can listen and found the songs that will be used and the rules of procedure.

The registration period is open until the day of the romeria, in the direction This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., on the websites of the schools of music and dance in the Town Hall, or by filling out this registration form and delivering it in the Association of Bagera, at the school of music or at the office of the band of Txistularis.

The term of registration for exams of HABE will be openned from March 26 to April 2. Therefore, it is necessary to access to students' acces from the web of HABE. The first time you acces there, you must enter the number of identity card, without lyrics, in the user and password boxes.The registration has a cost of 30 euros.

The list of admitted will be published on April 4. Examinations, on the other hand, will begin in May. Oral and written comprehension tests will be carried out in the euskaltegi, from 6 to 10 of May, the written tests will be made on May 17, and oral at the end of June. The places and times for each test and each level are in the calendar.

There is an option to discuss and think about how emphasizing the use of the Basque language, to reflect on the situation and recovery of the Basque language, and to learn something about sociolinguistics. All this in sessions of sociolinguistics, which have been organized in the Museum San Telmo from March 18.

Sessions will take place once a month, on Tuesdays, from 19:00. Anyone can participate, and at each session a specific topic, chosen among the participants will be treated. In these sessions scripts and readings will be distributed in order to prepare them. Joxe Manuel Odriozola will be the catalyst, and, occasionally, experts from the world of the Basque language will be invited.

The written tests of the EGA exam will take place on 8th and 15th of March. The schedule for doing the exams  corresponding to each examined is awarded depending on the alphabetical order of the surname. Here you can find the place and the time corresponding to each province. In regards to Gipuzkoa, the tests will be from 08:45 in building Ignacio Maria Barriola of the campus of EHU-UPV; on 8th of March who have last names ranging from A to I, and on 15th of March who have last names ranging from the J to the Z.

The results of those exams will be published on 8th of May, and the claims deadline will be openned until 14th of May.

The last week many of you did the initial test of EGA exam, and this week, on Friday, the results will be published. These results will be provisionals, and may be claimed until March 5. The final results will be published on 7 March.

After having pass the initial test, the written tests will take place on 8 and 15 March, and results of this part of the exam will be published on 8 May. Then a term of claims will be re-openned, and oral tests will take place in the last two weekends of May. You can access the full calendar here.

The Basque Service of the city of San Sebastian and the Associations and Federations of Commerce and Hostelry of the city has organized Basque classes for traders and hotel owners. This classes will start soon, and the registration period willl be openned until Feburary 12.

The objectives of this course are two. On the one hand, start in the Basque language learning, so that they can offer a service in Basque to their customers. On the other hand, for those who know Basque, expand their language skills and their written communication skills.

Euskararen Topagunea has launched a new dictionary, between Basque and other 35 languages. This dictionary can be consulted online, and also offers the option of printing:

Nowadays we are used to listen lots of languages around us. This new dictionary will help us to get closer to these languages. Also it will serve to speakers of other languages for learning Basque. For this reason, it is a basic dictionary of 330 words. Now, 35 are the languages that are available: Chinese, Hindi, Danish, German, Czech, Polish, Hassani, Quechua... But anyone has the option of adding a new language to the dictionary. In this way, the Basque language will become a bridge between several languages. This is how Mikel Otaiza, the technician of Euskaltzaleen Topagunea, has explain it in the radio Euskadi Irratia.

We have classes for all levels, and we help to prepare all kinds of tests: linguistic profiles, EGA, all levels of HABE... The courses are given or daily or twice weekly.

The Mintzalagunak will meet from February to June, and to participate in these meetings, it is necessary to make the registration now, in January.

The Mintzalagunak project was created to help those who are learning Basque: two students of Basque gather with a volunteer who already knows Basque, and, in this way, the students will be able to get used to use this language.
